I am not fearful

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love—1 John 4:15-18 NKJV

Shortly after the death of his very close childhood friend, a brother—born again and spirit-filled—said to me helplessly and fearfully: “it could have been anyone of us. It is only by God’s grace are not consumed.” His dear friend had died after battling cancer for about two years. Something in me rejected that idea, and then I thought to myself, Jesus Christ did not suffer, die and arise from the dead for me to be a pawn in the hands of the devil or a subject to fear of sudden death or a timid and fearful prey in the sight of the blood thirsty hawks of this world. No, no, no greater is he that’s is in me than he that is in the world. Praise Jesus!

Child of God, indeed all who believe Jesus Christ is the son of God are saved by grace—we were saved from a very terrible consuming power, rescued forever from his kingdom, translated into a new kingdom, that of God and his dear son Jesus Christ. See, you have the blessing; the curse has been broken—all of it, Praise God! You are filled to the full with life eternal through Christ Jesus.

You see, the very moment you made your confession of faith, you were rescued from a very terrible devourer and consumer, the devil. Now prior to that eventful moment, and because of sin, you were under his whim—a pawn, as it were, under the power and law of sin and death. The bible says: death reigned in us because of one man’s sin. That’s right: devil is the consumer, the devourer and his power is death.

As a child of God today, you have got to understand that you do not need saving again and again—Christ died once for all, and he is no longer subject to death. You are no longer under the whim of the devil, you are under grace standing firm in it because of the spirit of Christ Jesus who is in you. Hallelujah!

So here is the fact, long ago you were in need of rescuing from death and its curse and you were a slave to death. But now having received salvation through faith, at once you are a new man in Christ. You are recreated in him. Praise Jesus! That’s right: there was the old you and there is now the new you. The old you died with Christ and was buried with him, the new you was raised with Christ a new man saved once and for all by grace. The new you can never be consumed by death but has defeated and overcome him. The old you and the new you are not the same and can never be. The old you was fleshly the new you is spirit. The old you needed to be saved from being consumed, the new you has been saved and rescued from the consuming power of death and now has eternal life. Praise God!

Beloved of God, it is time to change your confession! When deadly things happen in the world however calamitous don’t cower rather be bold. Open your mouth and speak faithfully about who you are through faith in Christ Jesus. It does not matter to whom it happened, even if that person is a brother—understand that what you know and what you do with what you know is what matters. It is all about how we exercise our faith. Remember Daniel 11:32, the people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits. And remember also John 8:32, and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Praise God.

Now say this with me: I am not fearful. I have been rescued from all fear and from death. I am free from the power and the law of sin and death. I am not under sin but under grace through faith in Christ Jesus. I have been victorious over sickness and disease through the death, burial and resurrection of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Therefore, I say faithfully: a thousand shall fall at my side, and ten thousand at my right hand but it shall not come near me (Psalm 91:7). I am a new creation in Christ Jesus, I am full of the life of God—no demon in hell has any power over me, neither any disease or sickness (Romans 6:14). I am a child of God!
